I observed what went on around me and Page 8 continued my studies. My food and lodgings were greatly improved over the difficult year 1921. All that year I had not only suffered from hunger but also lived in dreadful conditions.
Alas, the university's classes didn't last long. In November Germany was defeated and their troops began leaving the Ukraine.
