Manaslu region is also one of the restricted area of Nepal where the trekkers has to get the special permit from the tourism department for trekking with a registered trekking guide. The trek follows an ancient salt-trading route along the steep sided Budhi Gandaki river. This region is also home for endangered snow leopard and was only opened for trekkers in 1992.
